Synopsis:

In the New York-based offices of All Soaps Magazine, editor Maureen Stanton’s own soap-opera-like existence has been out of control since 9/11–the day she decided not to abort her unborn child. Now, ten years later, it's time to make another choice that will change the direction of her life.

Characters:

MAUREEN: The editor of All Soaps Magazine (ASM), late thirties, single mother of ten-year-old Tate, living with Nathan, her boyfriend of nearly eight years.
ALANA: Career-driven managing editor of ASM, attractive, thirty, accent from south Midwest, Tennessee-ish.
STU: Senior editor, late thirties.
BRIAN: Early thirties, associate editor, carelessly attractive.
GRETCHEN: Late twenties, associate editor, casual dresser.

Background:

Originally developed in 2008 at the Road Less Traveled Theater in Buffalo, New York, Cockeyed Today went on to be the featured play at the Alleyway Theater’s Play-Rites of Spring event in May 2009. It is now ready for a world premiere.With an ensemble cast of five and everyday costumes, Cockeyed Today has a suggested set and staging that was intentionally designed to use minimal space.

Setting:

Play takes place in the New York City offices of All Soaps Magazine post-Labor Day, 2011.
